It i**pected that advances in information and communication technologies will playa pivotal role in the development of new sensing and imaging technologies forlocal and remote detection and possible prevention of diseases. In fact, thesesensing and imaging systems will use the same fabrication technology that hasenabled the drastic lowering of cost, exponential increase in complexity ofelectronic chips and widespread availability of computing and communication resources. Not only will these systems be suitable for Ubiquitous Health and Environment(smart homes, smart hospitals) applications, but they are also crucial tonational development and poverty reduction. The First International Symposiumon Future Information and Communication Technologies for Ubiquitous HealthCare(Ubi‐HealthTech’13) aims to bring together experts in engineering, communications, physical sciences, and health sciences as well as computer and computation specialistswith the common goal of applying information and communication technologies forUbiquitous healthcare and Ubiquitous environment systems design andapplications ‐ two areasthat are at the top of the agenda is most countries aroundthe globe. Some of the topics to be covered by top specialists from around theglobe include (but not limited to): SMARTER HOMES, SMARTER MEDICAL CENTERS, SMARTER PLANET, BETTER HEALTHCARE EMERGING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONTECHNOLOGIES FOR U‐HEALTH PERVASIVE AND UBIQUITOUS WIRELESS HEALTHSYSTEMS, NETWORKS AND SERVICES WEARABLE AND IMPLANTABLE WIRELESS SENSORSFOR U‐HEALTH MEDICAL ELECTRONICS FOR BETTER HEALTHCARE BIOMEDICAL AND BIOSENSORS ENGINEERING ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR EMERGINGAPPLICATIONS IN U‐HEALTH U‐HEALTH FOR AGING The symposium will include presentations oftheoretical and experimental achievements, innovative U‐Healthsystems, prototyping efforts, case studies and advances in technology related toU‐healthcare & Smart Homes/Medical Centers. Submitted **s mustnot be published or under review for another workshop, conference, or journal. They should not exceeding 4000 words (6 pages using 10‐pointtype), including figures and references. **s must be submitted online viathe conference website. The proceedings will be published in IEEE Xplore.Authors should clearly identify how their considered topics relate to issues onUbiquitous Healthcare Communication Systems, applications and services.Proposals describing an overall working system are particularly of interest. All the **s accepted by our symposiumwill be EI indexed. Best selected **s will be published in the InternationalJournal on E‐Health and Medical Communications (IJEHMC).
